The smell

March 29, 2006
Interesting, spring makes this city smell. It is definitely something that you cannot smell in Helsinki for example because your nose and lungs are full of sand. I don't know whether it is a good smell or not but in any case it is a distinct smell.

Tomorrow seems to be the coldest day of the week, only +13. In Helsinki the highest seems to be +4. Good for me.

Friday night dinner in Kõleves

March 19, 2006
It was time to have something else than Gyros for dinner so I asked for recommendations at work. My boss recommended this recently opened Kõleves (www.koleves.com). It is pretty easy to reach but there is no public transportation stop right next to it. Anyways, after short walk we found the place and entered.

The interior looks nice and it has some nice details. Unfortunately there was a minor misunderstanding with my table reservation so we had to wait for a moment while they organized a table for us. Anyways, we got our place in a full restaurant and we checked the menu. Price level wasn't too high - soups were around 600 HUF and main meals 1500-2000 HUF.

We both ordered sirloin steaks with green pepper sauce and red wine. We liked the food and wine was on the house due to the misunderstanding with reservation. I can recommend this restaurant for an easy going place to have some drinks or food. It is not the fanciest or trendiest place on the earth but it is perfect to spend some time with your friends.

Back to blogging

March 09, 2006
Huh, long time since the last entry. Well, few things happened meanwhile.

I had my first Hungarian language lesson with a teacher and I think it is worth of continuing. Too bad she is now somewhere in South-Africa for two weeks. It is a little bit easier to progress with teacher, especially when I still need help to get my pronunciation right.

Then I heard some exciting news from Finland. My brother is getting married in the summer and luckily our trip to Finland is at that time so we are able to attend. Great!

And then I attended the Miskolc AIESEC LC weekend for newies. It was good to see new and enthusiastic people getting in to AIESEC. Of course things were a little bit different than in Finnish LCs but the core of the organization is same everywhere in those over 90 countries where it operates. And then it was even more fun to share experiences and party. Unfortunately Sunday was not that nice, I blame that cheap and bad quality wine.

In addition of these events and news I also attended a frog festival, provided accommodation to Dutch trainee returning home etc. So my life hasn't been boring.
