Wine tasting, gulyas and autumn colors

October 25, 2005
On last Saturday I finally tasted proper Hungarian Gulyas in Miskolc. We joined the group of trainees and exchange students for a dinner. The restaurant was also offering live music in addition of good food. Even though I was rather tired and not really hungry the of the soup taste was really good.

Next day was then for travelling to Tokai and visiting a wine cellar with the same group. Traveling was fun with such group and even it was raining I liked the autumn colored nature. The wine cellar was pretty small and meant for producing and storing only. We were offered dry wine, several sweet wines and finally some palinka. Palinka is strong (40-60%) alcohol and it is usually made from pearls. Also other fruits are possible. Some of the wines were way too sweet to my taste but it was still a cheerful experience.

Repairs and clock

October 25, 2005
I have found out that apartment repairs and timetables do not fit together at all. So far, there has been three cases when repairmen should have been working here. Every single time they have been late around one hour and once they did not arrive at all. Unfortunately I do not have possibility to call and ask where they are so I my landlord has to do it.

The stupid thing here is that I have to stick home and I do not know when they come. I should also work at the same time at the workplace. I really wonder how these repairs could have been done if I did not have flexible working hours. Now I only have to work later in the evening to compensate this.

Yet another different weekend

October 09, 2005
Last weekend I had my parents visiting me. They also brought some of my things from Finland such as my winter coat and shoes. I also received some books in Finnish and I have to say I missed reading a good book in my native language. Weekend went nicely and my parents liked the city, even though it was rather different where they are used to live. It was first time for them to use metro - my mother has never lived in Helsinki and when my father did, there was no such yet.

This weekend the original plan was to attend AIESEC conference in Hajdúszoboszló. Dóra had a session there on Saturday and I was supposed to be a co-facilitator. Unfortunately I started to feel feverish and my stomach started to go wacky during the night before Friday and I had to stay home whole weekend. Luckily now on Sunday fever is gone and my stomach is stabilized.
